Texas A&M didn’t have many position players enter the transfer portal, but it didn’t take long for utility player Jamal George to do so and recently find a new home with the Missouri Tigers.
It wasn’t a big surprise when George entered the portal, especially with the Aggies bringing in transfer outfielder Jake Duer. The former Alabama State Hornet competed for a starting outfield role and played in 34 games with 17 starts. However, with the emergence of freshman Terrance Kiel II and the return of Caden Sorrell to the lineup, George couldn’t secure a starting spot.
He always brought an energy that was sorely missing throughout the season, but he couldn’t back it up with consistent play. George finished the season with a slash line of .231/.277/.307, recording four RBIs and two stolen bases.
Below, you can see the official announcement from George’s Instagram account.
It’s a bit ironic that George is joining the Tigers, as their sweep of Texas A&M near the end of the season essentially knocked the Aggies out of postseason contention. However, Missouri struggled in SEC play, and every position is up for grabs, giving the athletic utility player plenty of opportunities to break into the lineup consistently.
