FORT PIERCE — As police continue investigating after the discovery of a man’s body in a home June 5, officials reported the deceased is a local resident and “we don’t believe there’s anything that poses any danger to the community right there.”
Police about 5:20 p.m. June 5 went to the 2800 block of Serenity Circle “to investigate a suspicious death,” police spokesperson Juliana Walker stated via text.

The location is west of South 25th Street and generally between West Midway Road and the Fort Pierce Central High School area.
Police went to the scene following a 911 call from a representative of the homeowner. The body of a dead man was found inside, police stated.
Fort Pierce Police Maj. Eric Chan said June 11 the home is supposed to be unoccupied. He said police do not suspect the individual was squatting there or was homeless.
Chan said the medical examiner’s office has not made a final determination regarding a cause of death. He said there were no signs of trauma to the body.
“Until we can determine the cause of death, we are not going to release the name (of the deceased) yet,” Chan said. “We just need that official report first before we can move to that next step.”
Chan said the man is thought to have been dead three to five days.
“It was not a burglary,” Chan said. “The house is supposed to be unoccupied.”
The back door to the home was unlocked, he said.
“We don’t believe there’s anything that poses any danger to the community right there,” Chan said.
