At the end of each season, The Herald-Tribune selects All-Area teams to honor the best athletes in every sport. Coaches from Sarasota and Manatee County schools are sent nomination forms and are asked to nominate and rate their athletes as well as those from other teams. That data, combined with our research, led to the selection of the All-Area team. Here is the 2025 Sarasota Herald-Tribune Girls Tennis All-Area Team.
FIRST TEAM
Martina Blanco
School: Saint Stephen’s Episcopal
Year: Freshman
Highlights: The Falcons’ No. 2 player finished with an overall record of 7-4. Receiving a wildcard entry into the Class 1A state tournament, Blanco lost in the round of 16.
Koreena Hickey
School: Venice
Year: Sophomore
Highlights: A first-team All-Area selection last year, Venice’s No. 3 player finished with a singles record of 17-0 and a double record of 17. She defeated Palmetto’s Samantha Tucker to win the district singles title, and teamed with Faye Klutke to defeat Lakewood Ranch’s Emerson Carter and Taylor Knoll to win the district doubles title.
Faye Klutke
School: Venice
Year: Sophomore
Highlights: A second-team All-Area selection last year, Venice’s No. 2 player finished with a singles record of 15-3 and a doubles record of 20-3. Klutke defeated Sarasota’s Rebekah Braswell for the district singles title, and teamed with Koreena Hickey to defeat Lakewood Ranch’s Emerson Carter and Taylor Knoll for the district doubles title.
Julia Piotrowska
School: Riverview
Year: Senior
Highlights: A first-team All-Area selection last year, Riverview’s No. 1 player in singles and doubles finished with a combined record of 13-1. She defeated Venice’s Christine Wu to win the district singles title, and teamed with Kathleen Siddons to defeat Wu and Tess Tchorbadjiev to win the district doubles title. Piotrowska finished runner-up at the Class 4A state tournament in singles and reached the semifinal round with Siddons in doubles.
Tess Tchorbadjiev
School: Venice
Year: Senior
Highlights: A second-team All-Area selection last year, Venice’s No. 4 player finished with a singles record of 18-0 and a doubles record of 12-3. Tchorbadjiev defeated Lakewood Ranch’s Anna Perez for the district title.
Christine Wu
School: Venice
Year: Senior
Highlights: A first-team All-Area selection last year, Venice’s No. 1 player finished with a singles record of 10-7 and a doubles record of 12-4. Wu lost in the district singles final to Riverview’s Julia Piotrowska.

Hannah Legere
School: Lakewood Ranch
Highlights: In her first year as head coach, Legere guided the Mustang team to a record of 12-2. Among its victories, Lakewood Ranch defeated Sarasota, Parrish, Cardinal Mooney, and North Port. At the district meet, the Mustangs finished third behind Venice and Riverview.
