Bieber is now slated to make the start at 7:05 p.m. Friday, June 6, against the Chesapeake Baysox at Canal Park, the RubberDucks announced.

Earlier this week, Guardians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti said Bieber’s start with Double-A Akron was set for Thursday, June 5.

“We are excited to have Shane Bieber pitch at Canal Park this Friday,” RubberDucks President and General Manager Jim Pfander said in a news release published online Tuesday, June 3. “After pitching for the RubberDucks on his path to MLB, we can’t wait for our great fans in Akron to see Bieber on the Canal Park mound again as he works his way back to Cleveland.”

In Bieber’s comeback from Tommy John surgery, the 2020 AL Cy Young Award winner made his first rehab start May 31 in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. The right-handed Bieber threw 2⅓ scoreless innings, allowed one single and struck out five against the ACL Rangers.
