A drug cartel enforcer wanted in several murder cases in Albuquerque was extradited to El Paso from Mexico, authorities said.
Jaime Renteria Fernandez, a 31-year-old U.S. citizen, was handed over to U.S. federal law enforcement agents about 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at the Stanton International Bridge in Downtown El Paso, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials told the El Paso Times.
Renteria also was wanted for drug trafficking and his role as a drug cartel enforcer, officials said. Renteria is part of a large drug cartel organization, but no further details were released.
He was extradited to El Paso through a partnership between Homeland Security Investigations and Mexican law enforcement officials.
