Elly De La Cruz hit his second home run of Tuesday’s Reds-Royals game in Kansas City 451 feet into Kauffman Stadium’s waterfalls, leaving his teammates and Fanduel Sports Network’s John Sadak and Jeff Brantley marveling at the blast.
“Crushed to right center!” Sadak said during the broadcast. “That was the second level of the cascading water! The Reds lead! As Elly De La Cruz goes fishing!”
“I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a ball hit up there,” Brantley added. “That hit off the middle of the waterfall. This is hammer city. Elly knew it as soon as he made contact. That is way back there!”
De La Cruz hit his earlier home run 436 feet. The pair of homers gave him 11 for the season.
De La Cruz became the first Red in the Statcast era (since 2015) with multiple homers of 435+ feet in a single game.
