DUNCAN FALLS — Bri Wolfe capped a four-run first inning with a two-run homer, and seventh seed Philo had little trouble from there with an 11-1 five-inning win over ninth seed Indian Creek in Division IV tournament play on May 13.
The Electrics advanced to play at second seed Harrison Central at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 20.
Wolfe finished with two hits and three RBIs, Parker Hina added two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored, Kyleigh McGraw tripled and singled and Lexie Charles had a single with two RBIs in the win.
Cassidy Himes had five strikeouts and allowed two hits in a complete game win.
West Holmes 9, River View 3: Addy Blair belted a two-run home run to give the 12th seeded Lady Bears a 2-0 lead in the third, but the eighth-seeded Knights scored eight runs during the third and fourth to earn a Division IV tournament win.
Blair also doubled, Hallie Wallace added two singles and a RBI and Olivia Snapp also had two hits for River View.
Ironton Rock Hill 10, New Lexington 4: Mia Metzger collected three hits with an RBI, as the 13th-seeded Panthers fell on the road in Division V tournament play.
Bellaire 12, Buckeye Trail 1 (5 inn.): The seventh-seeded Big Reds dropped the ninth-seeded Warriors in Division VI tournament action and advanced to play at second seed Garaway at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 20.
Monroe Central 10, Rosecrans 0 (5 inn.): The eighth-seeded Seminoles shut out the 11th-seeded Bishops in Division VI and will move to play at top seed Crooksville at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 20.
Baseball
Tusky Valley 5, Coshocton 0: JJ Herman, Jace Dickerson and Champ Haley had Coshocton’s only hits in a loss to the Trojans.
Indian Valley 6, Cambridge 1 (10 inn.): Garrett Carpenter, Mason Gregg and Michael Micale had the Bobcats’ only hits in a non-league loss to the Braves, who scored five times in the top of the 10th.
Dawson Geese had seven strikeouts in six scoreless innings to earn the no-decision.
Ridgewood 12, Newcomerstown 2: Jackson Cabot knocked in a pair of runs and allowed two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts in six innings to earn the win for the Generals.
Cohen Parsons added two hits and three runs scored, Wyatt Marlatt also had two hits with two runs scored and a RBI and Logan Ridenbaugh singled twice and scored twice for the winners.
May 12 results
Tri-Valley 18, Zanesville 1 (5 inn.): Alivia Reffitt went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs and Cydnee Wolford was 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and four runs scored, as fourth seed Tri-Valley topped fifth seed Zanesville in a Division III softball tournament game.
Ally Peterson added a home run, a single and three RBIs, Paiton Murphy doubled with two RBIs, and Murphy and Ashlyn Davis combined for 11 strikeouts in the five-inning no-hitter for the Scotties, who advanced to play at top seed Dover at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Claymont 7, Ridgewood 6: The Mustangs used a 4-run sixth inning to rally past the Generals in Inter-Valley Conference softball play.
Ava Kulbacki hit a 3-run home run in the first and Kaydence Lahna and Addison Lahmers added two hits each for Ridgewood.
Baseball
New Lexington 9, John Glenn 8: Carter Hahn knocked in three runs and Clay Miller chipped in two singles and two RBIs, as the Panthers (10-6 MVL) clinched the Muskingum Valley League Small School Division title.
Tanner Toth tossed a complete game win and finished with three hits and two runs scored and Nick Metzger hit a double and two singles and scored twice for New Lex.
Reid Howard and Zane Townsend had two hits and Owen Edwards and Kayson Hoff added a hit and two RBIs to lead the Muskies.
Cambridge 6, Shenandoah 1: The Bobcats celebrated Senior Night with the non-league victory over the Zeps at Don Coss Field at Ron Antill Stadium.
In a pregame ceremony, the Bobcats recognized seniors Carson Campbell, Jacob Eltringham, Konner McIntire and Rylee Wilson.
Mason Gregg went the distance for the Bobcats (11-9), allowing just three hits with four K’s and two walks to collect the victory.
Garrett Carpenter doubled and singled for Cambridge, with Gregg helping his own cause with a pair of base hits. Dawson Geese ripped a triple and Tate Sikora picked up an RBI single for the winners.
Tri-Valley 7, Meadowbrook 0 (5 inn.): Draven Spinks tossed a one-hitter with four strikeouts and Brady Kaufman doubled, singled and scored twice to keep the Scotties unbeaten in MVL action.
Kade Hindel, Blayne Riley and Isaiah Cullins also had RBIs for Tri-Valley, while Kade Winnett had the Colts’ only hit.
Sheridan 9, Morgan 7: The Generals scored on a wild pitch and an error in the top of the seventh to edge the Raiders in league play.
Connor Roshon had three RBIs, Noah Wamer doubled with two RBIs and two runs scored, Shawn Griffey doubled and singled with two RBIs, and Camdyn Packer earned the win in relief and scored three times for Sheridan.
Brylee Shannon had two hits and two RBIs and Jadyn Reese doubled, singled and scored twice to lead the Raiders.
Ridgewood 4, Claymont 1: Caleb Schultz hit a two-run single in a three-run first and winning pitcher Maison Kiser struck out eight over six innings in the Generals’ victory.
Schultz had two hits, Grant Lahmers singled with two RBIs and Jace McQueen scored twice for Ridgewood. Jackson Cabot also threw a scoreless seventh for the save.
River View 11, Coshocton 1 (5 inn.): Cole Greenwalt fanned nine in a two-hitter and Maguire Werntz used a triple and a single to drive in three runs for the Black Bears in MVL play.
Layton Massie added two hits and two runs scored and Reid Johnson doubled with two RBIs, as eight players had at least one hit for River View.
Champ Haley and Koltin Tidwell had hits for Coshocton.
Buckeye Trail 12, Tuscarawas Central Catholic (5 inn.): Mason McQuain went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs and Tyeson Mercer was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored to pace the Warriors’ attack in an IVC victory.
Mercer and Owen Carpenter combined on a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and Laine Wayble drove in two runs with two singles for the Trail offense.
Tennis
Bobcats enjoy Day 1 sectional success: Cambridge tennis had a trio of district qualifiers during Day 1 action in the East sectional tournament at Dover Park.
Singles No. 2 seed James Goggin collected two wins to qualify for next week’s district tournament and another win in the seeding match for districts. Goggin beat Zanesville’s Subh Patel 6-0, 6-0 and Hiland’s Joel Leinbach 6-2, 6-1.
Jacob Vincent also qualified with two wins beating Coshocton’s Jackson Malafarona 6-0, 6-1 and Indian Creek’s Caleb Zifal 6-1, 6-0.
The Bobcats first doubles team of Baylon Rose and Jax Van Dyne earned the top seed and took care of business and qualified for district. They beat West Holmes Jones and Zheng 6-0, 6-1 and East Liverpool’s Copper and Adrich 6-4, 6-1.
The teams will play on Wednesday at Dover for seeds in next week’s district tournament with the chance to advance one singles player and one doubles team to the State tournament at Wooster University.
