Florida State softball will play in the ACC Championship game on Saturday, May 10.
The No. 1 seeded Seminoles (46-8) held off Duke 3-2 in the ACC semifinals, thanks to a sixth inning solo home run from Michaela Edenfield that gave FSU a needed insurance run, with the Blue Devils scoring a run in the seventh to give the game a nervous ending.
Clemson came back from a seven-run deficit in a wild, weather-impacted 10-9 semifinal win over Virginia Tech. The Hokies led 9-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth, before Clemson scored eight runs, with four straight walks and a hit by a pitch scoring four runs while heavy rain fell at Harrington Athletics Village.
FSU will play in the program’s 27th ACC title game and look to win the team’s 20th title.
The Seminoles have competed in and won more ACC tournament titles than the rest of the conference combined.
