Manitowoc's S. 21st St. will be closed to northbound traffic for a week. Here's why.

MANITOWOC – Northbound traffic on a portion of South 21st Street is scheduled to be closed for one week starting May 12. Here’s what drivers should know.

Where is the closure?

The closure on South 21st Street will be between Washington and Franklin streets.

What’s the detour?

A detour will follow South 26th Street northbound to Franklin Street and Franklin Street eastbound back to South 21st Street.

Turn lane also closed.

The eastbound left turn lane on Washington Street will also be closed.

Why is the street being closed?

The street is being closed for the replacement of a water service on the northwest corner of South 21st and Washington streets.

When will it reopen?

The city expects the water service project and related pavement replacement work to be finished and road reopened to traffic by the end of the day May 16, depending on weather.
