INDIANAPOLIS — Pacers All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton was still wearing a wrap on his left, non-shooting wrist at practice Thursday but said he should have no problem being available for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals Friday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The Pacers won the first two games on the road against No. 1 seed Cleveland and will take a 2-0 lead into Game 3. Twenty-one road teams have taken a 2-0 leads in a seven-game series since 2005, 18 of them won the series.
“I’m fine,” Haliburton said. “I’ll be fine for the game. I’m all good.”
Pacers coach Rick Carlisle also said Haliburton is good to go for the game, though he acknowledged the wrist is sore.
Haliburton said the same after Game 2, but he appeared to jam the wrist on a box out in the second quarter and was grabbing at it in pain, meeting with an athletic trainer during free throws by center Myles Turner. TNT reported on its broadcast that Haliburton had an X-ray on the wrist at halftime. However, he played the entire second half and hitting a game-winning 3-pointer off his own missed free throw to win the game with 1.1 seconds to go.
It was his second game-winning shot in three games after he eliminated the Bucks in Game 5 with a driving layup with 1.3 seconds left. Haliburton averaged 18.6 points and 9.2 assists per game this season and is averaging 18.4 points and 10.7 assists per game in the playoffs.
