Florida State had to go back to the drawing board to get a quarterback in the 2026 cycle once four-star prospect Brady Smigiel decommitted in January. Before Jaden O’Neal committed to Oklahoma, he named FSU in his top five and top 10 schools last summer.
O’Neal made his way to Tallahassee last month. In June, he’ll make a return trip from June 15-17 for an official visit. So, it’s clear that the Seminoles are still making waves with O’Neal despite his pledge to the Sooners. In fact, Tom Loy of 247Sports broke down where FSU stands with the 6-foot-3, 200-pounder.
“Mustang (Okla.) High Top247 quarterback Jaden O’Neal remains committed to the in-state Oklahoma Sooners. The California native made the move to Oklahoma for his final season of high school ball before enrolling in Norman. However, there is a lot of buzz right now that he could eventually part ways with the Sooners and end up elsewhere. The school with the most buzz right now is Florida State. Keep a close eye on the Seminoles. The other contender in the mix is Arizona.”
The 247Sports composite rankings have O’Neal as the country’s No. 1 prospect in Oklahoma and the No. 12 quarterback. He’s also ranked as the No. 182 overall recruit.
FSU flipped four-star quarterback Kevin Sperry from Oklahoma in the 2025 cycle. With this latest news, O’Neal has a shot to be another.
