The Peoria County Coroner’s Office has identified the 22-year-old motorcyclist who was killed Wednesday during a three-vehicle crash outside Dunlap.
Ryan D. Todd of Dunlap was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:56 a.m., according to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood. The coroner said that Todd sustained multiple trauma injuries in the crash and was killed instantly.
According to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 11 a.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of West Cedar Hills Drive east of Dunlap. Deputies discovered two vehicles and a motorcycle that were involved in the crash, with the drivers of the two vehicles uninjured.
However, Todd was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation into the crash revealed that his motorcycle collided with the rear of another vehicle, ejecting him into the eastbound lane where Todd was hit by a third vehicle.
Harwood said that Todd was wearing protective gear, including a helmet, at the time of the crash.
The accident is still under investigation by the sheriff’s office. A toxicology report, required by state law, remains pending.
