Rite Aid plans to close these 19 locations in California in first round of closures

More than a dozen Rite Aid stores across California have been identified as locations to be closed following the pharmacy chain’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy announcement earlier this week.

Rite Aid is now slated to begin a process of auctioning off most of its locations. According to court records obtained by USA TODAY, A&G Real Estate Partners said they anticipate auctions for Rite Aid locations to start around May.

A&G Real Estate Partners did not immediately respond to USA TODAY’s request for comment on the locations set to be listed for auction on Wednesday, May 7.

Apart from the stores to be auctioned, Rite Aid laid out a list of locations it plans for a first wave of closures. According to the docket, the plan still needs to be approved.

If these locations are closed, they’ll join a string of other recent shuttered stores and planned closures in the state, including Forever 21, Joann and Advance Auto Parts.

Where else is Rite Aid closing?

While the plan still needs to be approved, the list of locations to be closed also impact Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Washington.

How many Rite Aid locations are there in California?

There are 347 Rite Aid stores in California, according to its store directory. Rite Aid has more than 1,200 stores in the United States.
