MUNCIE, IN — Indiana State Police have released the names of two local men — one killed, the other critically injured — in an April 29 head-on crash.
Investigators said Jordan Xavier Ivy, 22, Muncie, was driving a Cadillac XT5 southbound on Indiana 67, southwest of Muncie, when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a northbound Dodge Ram pickup truck.
After the collision, both vehicles caught on fire. Ivy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck, 24-year-old Austin Douglas Duncan of Albany, was taken by ambulance to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital with what were described as serious injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, although state police said there were no indications alcohol or drug use were factors. Investigators said Ivy might have fallen asleep while driving.
The crash, near Delaware County Road 700 West, was reported to emergency dispatchers shortly after 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29.
