New Adena clinic in Wellston promises better care and more services

WELLSTON — Adena Health plans to relocate and expand its Wellston-based primary care clinic into a newly renovated facility.

According to an announcement, the new Adena Family Medicine – Wellston, located at 2 East A St., is scheduled to open in early 2026.

“This project reflects Adena Health’s continued commitment to improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve,” said Jeff Graham, Adena Health president and CEO, said in the announcement. “We began looking at opportunities to expand our services in Wellston back in 2020, so to see this becoming a reality is special for us.”

“The current clinic has served as a vital community resource since opening in 2015,” Graham added. “However, it has exceeded its capacity and its ability to meet patient demand. With more space, more services, and greater accessibility, we’re better positioned to meet the growing health care needs of this area for years to come.”

A much larger facility

The new clinic will be nearly 8,600 square feet, more than four times the size of the current facility. It will include expanded waiting areas, additional exam rooms for both primary and specialty care and improved parking. A drive-thru retail pharmacy will also be added.

The project is a collaborative effort between Adena Health and the Jackson County Economic Development Partnership, with funding support from the Appalachian Regional Commission. It has received backing from the Ohio Department of Development, the City of Wellston and the Jackson County Board of Commissioners.

“This project is a model of rural collaboration and innovation,” said Sam Brady, president and CEO of the Jackson County Economic Development Partnership. “With strong community backing from all those involved, this new clinic represents an important step forward in health equity for our region.”

Construction of the new clinic is expected to begin this month.
