Rain and thunderstorms were prevalent throughout the state on Friday night. While that prevented us from presenting a football showcase with highlights for week 8, that didn’t stop most high school football games from taking place in the poor conditions. Macomb Area Conference league champions have already been decided, and other leagues were wrapping up but teams still have plenty to play for including playoff spots and positioning.
Let’s start in the Blue Water Area Conference. The game between Almont and Yale was postponed due to the weather, however regardless of the outcome of that game they still will win at least a co-share of the league title which is their 8th in the school’s history. The Raiders will host Ogemaw Heights High School in their final regular season game as they look to keep their perfect season alive. In the Macomb Area Conference, it was crossover week between all 6 leagues as the RED battled the WHITE, the BLUE took on the GOLD, and the SILVER was against the BRONZE. Port Huron beat Warren Fitzgerald 44-30 improving to 7-1 overall. They are in the driver’s seat now for a top seed in district pairings. Port Huron Northern improved to 6-2 and stayed one game behind the Red Hawks by defeating Eastpointe 42-12. Here are the rest of the local scores in the MAC:

The regular season wraps up next week with teams looking for playoff positioning and to stay sharp heading into the district rounds. Sunday, October 22nd the MHSAA will fill out the official state brackets and reveal the entire playoff field for each division. Here is a list of the local games for week 9 on October 20th:
