Voting In 2024 – Checking Out The Party

By Mary Bisciaio

Voting quiz, though, I challenge you before November of 2024 to research and find the answers. I’m not checking your answers, because that’s not my job, and you shouldn’t believe me anyway. Do your own fact checking, and you might be surprised.  All you need to answer is Democrat or Republican for each question.  Then total up your answers and see if they line up with the party you’re giving your vote. Don’t trust your judgement, because the parties have changed.  Is it worth a few minutes of your time to get it right this fall? I hope so, because your children and grandchildren will suffer if we get it wrong. So, print this out if you want. It doesn’t need to be completed all at once; just till you’re ready to cast your vote.

  1. Which party favors big government?
  2. Which party takes big campaign donations from Wall Street and corporations? (Are you sure?)
  3. Which party takes large donations from big tech and social media moguls?
  4. Which party has controlled Chicago, Baltimore, and New York City for decades? How well are the citizens in those cities doing?  Have we accepted poverty in these cities as a norm?
  5. Which party wants to defund the police?
  6. Which party allows the states and its citizens to determine abortion policy? (Trick question)
  7. Which party favors schools of choice? (The money follows the students)
  8. Which party supports Israel as an ally and friend?  Which party wants to give more aid to Ukraine?
  9. Which party wants to secure our southern border? Actions speak louder than words.
  10. Which party is tough on crime?
  11. Which party is spending 90 million dollars on electric buses when our kids can’t read?
  12. Which party is eliminating the use of fossil fuels?
  13. Which party’s economic policies have driven up the cost of necessities like food, housing, and gas? Are you poorer?
  14. Are you worried about a terrorist attack in this country?  Why?
  15. Is there a plan for helping our students left behind from Covid-19 lockdowns? (That’s only one reason they’re behind.) Is there a plan? Why or Why not?
  16. Are you still the parent with all the rights that brings? What authority have you lost?
  17. Has crime gotten to your neighborhood? What is being done?
  18. Do you love your country, stand for the national anthem, and are your children being taught that in school? Do you want patriotism taught in school?
  19. Which party supports the Constitution?
  20. Which party is all inclusive? (Again you may be surprised.)

I could go on and on, but if nothing else, there’s enough here to encourage thinking and rational decisions to benefit the country.  The mudslinging isn’t new, and both sides are guilty, but the worse that can happen this year are people making uneducated decisions. If you find out some misinformation after the election, it will be too late for all of us.

The world is watching. Some countries in disbelief at the tactics recently exhibited against a political opponent.

Make your voice heard and vote responsibly.

Just a last thought after Saturday, July 13, 2024. Who are Americans? I’ve always thought them to be independent, hardworking, resilient, and compassionate, and, above all else, fiercely loyal. An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us. Apparently, some prefer languishing in hatred, angry despicable rhetoric, and advocating for violence. I pray in 2024 we leave you behind while the rest of us raise our families respectfully and with hope in the future.
