FOND DU LAC – The 2026 partisan primary is Aug. 11, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The top race on the ballot is for governor, with voters narrowing the Republican and Democratic fields ahead of the Nov. 3 election.
Other statewide races include lieutenant governor, secretary of state and state treasurer.
In the Fond du Lac area, the primary also will decide the Democratic nominee for U.S. House District 6 and the Republican nominee for Wisconsin Assembly District 37.
What Fond du Lac voters need to know for the Aug. 11 primary
Because Wisconsin has a partisan primary, voters must choose candidates from only one party section on the ballot.
Voters who are not registered can register at their polling place Aug. 11. They must bring a proof-of-residence document showing their current address.
Voters can check their registration status, polling place and ballot details at myvote.wi.gov.
Who is running for U.S. House District 6 in Fond du Lac County?
All of Fond du Lac County is in U.S. House District 6. Amanda Bell and Brad Smith are running in the Democratic primary.
The winner will face Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman on Nov. 3.
Independent candidates Elizabeth Anne Fitzgibbon and Mike Thurow and Wisconsin Green Party candidate Matthew Arndt also are running.
The district also includes northern Dodge County; all of Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Ozaukee, Green Lake, Marquette, Waushara and Columbia counties; and part of Winnebago County.
Who is running for Wisconsin Assembly District 37?
The Aug. 11 primary will decide the Republican nominee for Assembly District 37 between incumbent Mark Born and Steve Rydzewski.
The winner will face Democrat LaToya Bates in the Nov. 3 election.
District 37 represents the towns of Waupun, Oakfield and Byron in southern Fond du Lac County, along with communities in northern Dodge County.
