The Wisconsin Badgers added another marquee win to their resume on Saturday. They went on the road and defeated No. 15 Purdue 97-73.
Wisconsin shot the lights out, averaging 56% from the field and a whopping 53% from 3. John Blackwell led that effort with 25 points and four rebounds. He shot 7 of 13 from the field and 5 of 10 from 3. As has been the case all season, Nick Boyd was the other major story. The senior point guard finished with 23 points, three rebounds and five assists. He made eight of his 13 shot attempts, several of which came during key crunch-time moments.
The other major headline from the contest: Wisconsin delivered an impressive road victory without junior center Nolan Winter, who left the team’s previous game with a lower-body injury. His status will be worth monitoring as the postseason begins.
The win against Purdue means the Badgers finish the regular season 22-9 (14-6 Big Ten). With the victory, they secure no worse than the No. 5 seed in the Big Ten Tournament bracket. Wisconsin still has a chance at No. 4 and a double-bye but needs Maryland to beat Illinois on Sunday.
With eyes on postseason play, here is where the Badgers stand in KenPom and ESPN’s basketball power index.
