Sean McElroy of West Bend West football was the winner of last week’s Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Piggly Wiggly high school athlete of the week poll for Sept. 8 through Sept. 13.

The senior linebacker registered seven total tackles, a tackle for loss, an interception and a blocked field goal that he returned for a touchdown in the Spartans’ 26-3 victory over Cedarburg on Sept. 5. The win marked the first time since 2006 the Spartans started a season with three straight wins.
