TWO RIVERS – The Two Rivers City Council approved a change to the room tax ordinance so that it now includes campgrounds and RV parks.
The 8% room tax rate is typically applied to other overnight lodging like hotels, motels and short-term rentals.
New reporting requirements aim to track tourism revenue
The ordinance now has also established reporting requirements for RV and camper revenue to improve the tracking of tourism revenue in the area.
“This update is intended to ensure fair and consistent application of the room tax across lodging types and help stabilize tourism-related revenues moving forward,” the council agenda states.
How room tax revenue is used in Two Rivers
Room tax is typically used to fund local improvements and services that make the area more attractive to tourists. About 30% of the revenue goes into the city’s general fund.
