These 8 Fox Valley businesses made the news in May | The Buzz

May was a steady month for business updates and while we saw no closures and only a few openings, other business developments worth noting landed on our radar.

In order to stay in the loop, we’ve put together a list of businesses that made the news in May.

2 new owners talk first few months of business

We checked in with two small businesses that opened in recent months.

AM Authentically Me, 132 W. Wisconsin Ave. in Kaukauna, opened Feb. 14, offering organic products made from herbs and other natural ingredients. Last month, we sat down with owner Cassandra Diaz about her shop, what she offers and her passion for holistic practices.

Fox Valley Artisan Market, 506 W. College Ave., had its grand opening March 2. We interviewed owner Cassidy Pesek on how business has been and more about the holistic products she carries.

2 businesses opened in May

Two businesses celebrated openings in the Fox Cities.

VASA Fitness, 1700 S. Appleton Road in Menasha, opened May 16. The club features a layout designed to blend strength training, cardio, recovery and studio-style classes. 

Theisen’s Home, Farm and Auto opened May 28 in the former Krueger’s True Value building at 999 Winneconne Ave. in Neenah. The business carries farm animal feed, hardware, auto parts, sporting goods, hunting materials, camping gear, gardening materials, apparel and footwear.

1 business announced its upcoming relocation

Plato’s Closet announced an upcoming move from its current spot at 309 N. Mall Drive in Grand Chute. Its new location will be less than a mile north, with its first day being June 13. The store is known for its resale clothing for men and women.

3 businesses are opening soon

We covered three businesses opening soon in the Fox Cities.

CoVantage Credit Union, 101 E. Kelso Road, will have its soft opening June 15. The new location will act as a full-service branch from the organization.

Sweet Brunch, 1104 Mutual Way in Grand Chute, will open this summer. We spoke with co-owner Maria Katris on their plans for the future brunch eatery.

We also covered El Charro Mexican Grill moving into the former Stone Arch Tied House at 137C W. Main St. in Little Chute. The eatery has one other location at 103 W. Huron St. in Berlin, the business known for its burritos, fajitas, tacos and other Mexican dishes. It’s currently unclear when its Little Chute location will open.

5 additional businesses to look out for

Outside of our May coverage, keep an eye out for these businesses opening soon.

Hot Biddy’s, 5120 W. Michaels Drive in Grand Chute, will open this summer. The business mainly operates as a food truck serving up Nashville-style fried chicken, the future restaurant will be its first brick-and-mortar location.

Diablo’s Tacos, 322 W. College Ave. in Appleton, is opening a new restaurant and sports bar this summer. The business started as a food truck, Diablo’s Taco Truck, which operates seven trucks around northeastern Wisconsin, and has locations called Diablo’s Taqueria in the Fox River Mall and Manitowoc.

7 Brew, 3305 W. College Ave. in Grand Chute, is currently setting up operations, although no opening date has been set. The coffee drive through specializes in coffee beverages, teas, sodas, energy drinks, smoothies and more.

The Islander Bar and Grill, from the owners of Diablo’s Tacos, plans to open at 240 First St. in Neenah this summer. The restaurant will serve wings, burgers, brunch and drink specials.

Copper Rock Coffee Company is opening this fall in the former Jo To Go at 3419 N. Richmond St. in Appleton. The business is known for its locally roasted and globally sourced coffee beans.
