CMK Starter and Alternator Rebuild gets new home
CMK Starter and Alternator Rebuild has a new home after moving a few blocks north of its former location.
The business closed at 2 p.m. May 22 and reopened at 8 a.m. May 26 at its new home, 2321 Eighth St. S. in Wisconsin Rapids, in the former Galles Marine building after it closed Aug. 16, 2025.
CMK Starter and Alternator Rebuild offers and installs truck accessories, skid steer attachments, snow plows and more equipment.
The new location allows CMK Starter and Alternator Rebuild to offer indoor and outdoor seasonal storage for boats, campers, snowmobiles, collector vehicles and more.

BBQ Shack expands its hours
BBQ Shack is now open seven days a week. The restaurant launched Monday service June 15 and is now open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily at 950 W. Grand Ave. in Wisconsin Rapids.
Derrek Magsam, his wife, Ashley, and his parents, Gary and Debra Magsam purchased Jim’s Barb-ie-Q Shack on Eighth Street South in February 2023, renaming it The BBQ Shack.
The restaurant expanded, and the family moved BBQ Shack to West Grand Avenue in November 2025, in the former Danny K’s after the building became available. Danny K’s closed in May 2025.

Herman-Taylor opens new celebration center
Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center has opened its new celebration center and has hosted several life celebrations in the new space at 2201 Chestnut St. in Wisconsin Rapids.
The funeral home announced plans for the new celebration and event center space in September 2025, offering separate restrooms, a kitchen and a large gathering space to better serve the community.
On June 3, the funeral home shared an update on the project’s progress, announcing construction was complete and the space had already hosted several celebrations. The Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce will host a Networking at Night event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 1 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center, offering a chance for the community to network and see the new space.
