A new law lets certain disabled veteran get TSA PreCheck for free.
The Veterans Expedited TSA Screening Safe Travel Act, or VETS Safe Travel Act, gives veterans who meet three conditions TSA PreCheck at not cost. Veterans must:
All three conditions must be met to qualify for the free precheck. The VA says Wisconsin has 323,724 veterans in the state. Of that, 87,267 are receiving disability compensation.
How can disabled Wisconsin veterans get free TSA PreCheck?
Vets who are eligible need to sign in to get their VA benefit letters and documents. That can be done online. They should then go to the benefit letter and document section on the VA’s website and select the TSA PreCheck application fee waiver letter.
The last step is to download the PDF.
Vets struggling to log in can use the “Ask VA” option to ask questions. The VA says to select “disability compensation” for the category and “how to file a claim” for the topic.
