Our Republican Party continues to make disappointing decisions about what United States citizens expect and want from their elected government. Slashing funds for veterans’ care. Eliminating programs to provide food for needy families. Removing legislated safeguards concerning public safety and the environment. Tariffs that are hurting farmers and allies. Defunding public radio and television — both very popular media but saving TikToc.
Punishing those among us with different orientations. The pretense that all immigrants, especially brown and black ones, are criminals. Trying to control free speech, guaranteed in our Constitution, by intimidation and threats. Installing inadequate political hacks into cabinet and other important government positions for which they are in no way qualified. Discontinuing aid programs around the world. Using U.S. courts for vengeance and retribution. Turning the “justice” branch of our government into a bad joke.
The list goes on and on. Almost all Republicans in government are obviously terrified of the president and his boogeymen who will force compliance to the MAGA agenda. What is our nation becoming? How can we feel proud to be American? Will no one stand up in the Republican Party and say “Enough!”? Are none of them true patriots?
Looking at the ridiculous chaos around us all, at the state and federal levels, there is nothing “great” to see. It’s very sad and certainly disappointing.
