As promised, the Green Bay Packers are activating cornerback Kamal Hadden off the physically unable to perform list on Sunday.
Hadden, who suffered a significant ankle injury while attempting to make a tackle against the Baltimore Ravens on Dec. 27 of last year, missed the entire offseason workout program and the first three practices of training camp. He’ll now return to the practice field for the first time since suffering the gruesome injury.
“He’s really matured, handles his business the right way,” coach Matt LaFleur said Sunday. “Just going back, he was challenged and he answered the bell. That’s always a really cool thing to see. I think it’s really impacted his ability to go out and play.”
Hadden said he was “real close” to returning in a response on social media on Friday.
“It was a gruesome deal. Anybody coming off a significant injury, there’s always a little bit of unknown. If you attack it the right way, which he has, I think we feel confident that he’ll be able to return to form,” LaFleur said.
Hadden, who made the 53-man roster to start last season, will re-join a competitive group at cornerback. The Packers lost Nate Hobbs but added veteran Benjamin St-Juste and rookie draft picks Brandon Cisse and Domani Jackson during the offseason.
Last season, Hadden appeared in 10 games, playing 37 snaps on defense and 66 snaps on special teams. He made five total tackles.
