The Green Bay Packers will replace Sean Mannion at quarterbacks coach with an internal promotion. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Matt LaFleur and the Packers are naming Luke Getsy as the team’s new quarterbacks coach.
Mannion, a rising star in the coaching industry, left Green Bay to become the offensive coordinator in Philadelphia after just one season as the Packers quarterbacks coach. Getsy was previously the quarterbacks coach in Green Bay from 2019 to 2021 under LaFleur, returned as an analyst in 2024 and was re-hired to the staff full-time in 2025.
The Packers reportedly interview Cardinals passing specialist Connor Senger and likely considered others for the quarterbacks coach job, but it will go to Getsy, who oversaw the early development of Jordan Love and helped Aaron Rodgers to back-to-back MVP seasons in 2020 and 2021.
After leaving Green Bay following the 2021 season, Getsy had failed stints as the offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears (2022-23) and Las Vegas Raiders (2024). He came back after being fired midseason by the Raiders in 2024, helping reverse engineer offenses for the defensive staff. In 2025, he returned to the offensive side as a senior analyst.
Getsy originally got his start in Green Bay under Mike McCarthy, who hired him as an offensive quality control coach in 2014. He spent two seasons in quality control and two more as a wide receivers coach before spending one year as an offensive coordinator at Miss. State. He returned to Green Bay as the quarterbacks coach on LaFleur’s first staff in 2019.
On one hand, Getsy knows Love well, is versed in LaFleur’s offense and will provide a seamless transition at a key assistant posiktion. On the other, LaFleur and the Packers are replacing a talented young coach with a retread and will miss an opportunity to add new ideas and talent to the offensive coaching staff.
