A fast-growing fitness gym is opening this month in East Town in the former Shopko building.
VASA Fitness, 2430 E. Mason St., in Green Bay, will open its newest Wisconsin location Aug. 15. The new building is the fourth in the state and 73rd in the country. Chris Griebe, chief operating officer, said the company selected Green Bay for its strong sense of community, active lifestyle and growing demand for high-quality fitness.
“Wisconsin has been very good to us,” Griebe said.
He pointed to the success of existing clubs in Racine, New Berlin and Menasha as key reasons for continued expansion.
“Our model, our building, our offerings and our people really match with these communities,” Griebe said.
The new 58,000-square-foot building offers many amenities, including cardio and strength training areas, free weights, indoor turf for functional training, a half-court basketball court, and a three-lane, 25-yard pool. Recovery features include a sauna, cold plunge, hot tub, massage chairs, steam rooms and red light therapy.
Griebe said the gym offers three membership tiers. Basic monthly membership starts at $14.99 and covers cardio, free weights, locker rooms and core amenities. Fitness membership at $24.99 adds group fitness classes plus all recovery amenities. Studio membership at $44.99 unlocks everything, including unlimited boutique studio classes limited to 14 to 20 people.
There’s also KidCare, a childcare service, offered to members for children ages 6 months to 11 years, for up to 90 minutes.
“The true differentiator for us is really what we call our studio products,” Griebe said.
Members will also have access to VASA’s STUDIO classes. All run as 50-minute classes led by certified instructors:
Fitness and studio members gain access to all 73 VASA locations; basic membership is limited to a single club.
The company has recruited its full leadership team, personal trainers and group fitness instructors from the Green Bay area.
General manager Dustin Burton of Green Bay, with more than 20 years in the market, will oversee the club.”We’ve recruited locally from the Green Bay area,” Griebe said.
