Marquette and Wisconsin announce renewal of women's college basketball rivalry

A state rivalry in women’s college basketball has been renewed.

Marquette and the University of Wisconsin announced June 9 that they have agreed on a home-and-home series.

The teams will play on Nov. 8 at MU’s Al McGuire Center, then on a date to be determined in Madison in the 2026-27 season.

The Golden Eagles and Badgers haven’t met since Dec. 4, 2017, when MU star Natisha Hiedeman – now in the WNBA – scored 26 points to lead an 88-65 victory.

A lot has changed for the programs since then, including multiple coaching changes. UW hired Robin Pingeton in March, and MU will enter its second season under Cara Consuegra.

MU and UW have played 25 times since 1977, with the Badgers holding a 13-12 advantage in the series.
