Main Street bridge in Green Bay to close for 19 days starting June 1

If you’re headed through downtown Green Bay in the next three weeks, watch for backed-up traffic as one of the downtown bridges will be closed for repairs.

The Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge, which connects Main and Dousman streets, will close to traffic.

When will the Main Street bridge close?

The bridge will close from June 1-19 from North Washington Street to Broadway, according to the Public Works Department.

Why will the Main Street bridge close?

The bridge will close for structural rehabilitation, specifically to work on the bridge’s counterweight that help to keep it open to boat traffic, according to Trista Hobbs, a facilities manager.

Will there be a detour for the Main Street bridge closure?

A detour will be provided from Broadway to Walnut Street to Monroe Avenue.
