MANITOWOC – Soon, folks will be able to grab an old fashioned and a good fish fry at one of the area’s longest-standing restaurants.
The Elbow Room — closed for more than a year now — will reopen soon.
Front of House Manager Anastasia Bartusch told Streetwise Manitowoc that owner Kent Meyer (and a silent partner) are finalizing city Health Department requirements and some remodeling and cleanup before announcing an opening date.

New owners plan to honor The Elbow Room’s Manitowoc tradition
“The Elbow Room has been a familiar gathering place for generations, with roots dating back to the early 1950s … has remained a cornerstone of Manitowoc’s dining scene through several owners while preserving its hometown charm,” the new owners said in a social media post. “A Manitowoc tradition is beginning a new chapter.”
The owners continued: “Now under new ownership, we’re honored to carry on that legacy while bringing fresh energy to this local landmark. As The Elbow Room, our vision is to blend timeless Wisconsin supper club traditions with exceptional hospitality, handcrafted cocktails, and quality steaks, seafood, and classic favorites.”
The Elbow Room has been closed since March 2024
The iconic Manitowoc restaurant closed in March 2024 after then owners Jeremiah and Rebecca Novak said they sold the restaurant to new owners.
The Novaks shared on social media at the time that the longtime lakeshore restaurant, 702 Buffalo St., would be open under their management for the last time on March 23, 2024.
The couple said they were selling the business to new owners who might take the restaurant in another direction. Nothing has been posted on the restaurant’s former Facebook page since March 2024.
Kent Meyer and his partner announced they will reopen the restaurant and also launched a new Facebook page for the popular restaurant.
