Just one player on the Packers active roster out during Jan. 7 practice

GREEN BAY – The Green Bay Packers had just one player on the active roster miss practice Jan. 7, three days ahead of their wild-card playoff game against the Chicago Bears.

Bo Melton was the lone player out, but Matt LaFleur confirmed ahead of practice that the all-purpose player is heading to injured reserve after injuring his knee making a tackle on punt team in the regular-season finale against the Minnesota Vikings.

Outside of Melton, the rest of the team was on the field in pads.

Here’s the latest from practice:

Packers’ Jan. 7 injury report

According to the team’s injury report, Warren Brinson (foot), Javon Bullard (knee), Nick Niemann (pectoral), Zach Tom (back/knee), Dontayvion Wicks (concussion) and Malik Willis (shoulder/hamstring) were limited participants in practice.

The Packers didn’t activate rookie offensive lineman John Williams (back) from the PUP list after his 21-day practice window expired, meaning his season is over.

Edgerrin Cooper (shoulder) was upgraded to a full participant.

Malik Willis injury update

Packers quarterback Malik Willis was participating in practice and doing throwing drills, during the portion of practice open to the media.

Willis has been battling shoulder and hamstring injuries.

He, along with Jordan Love and Desmond Ridder, were present.

Zach Tom injury update

Packers offensive lineman Zach Tom was in pads working out.

Tom missed the second half at the Denver Broncos on Dec. 14 with knee and back injuries, and the final three regular-season games. LaFleur said he expects Tom to return this week.

Dontayvion Wicks injury update

LaFleur said Packers receiver Dontayvion Wicks has not cleared concussion protocol, as of Jan. 6, but Wicks has participated in practice the past two days.

Wicks suffered a concussion during the Baltimore Ravens game Dec. 27 and missed the following game against the Vikings.
