A Packers-themed sports bar and restaurant in Green Bay is temporarily closed.

1st and Goal Sports Bar & Grill, 2148 University Ave., closed several days after Jonathon Jeske, the owner, was arrested on Jan. 1. Jose Morales, who co-owns the property with his wife Rebecca, started the business with Jeske as a manager. Morales confirmed the closure and said he is waiting for a liquor license transfer to reopen.

“I have people interested in renting the space,” Morales said.

Morales, who also owns Egg Yolk Café and Philly’s York, owned the restaurant when it opened in the summer of 2025. He had partnered with Jeske to manage the bar area. Morales said he later reached an agreement with Jeske in which Jeske would own the entire business and pay him rent for the space. He sold the business to Jeske because his other restaurants demand most of his time.

Morales said that once the liquor license is transferred to his name, he will rent the building, but wants to keep the same idea: a Packers-themed bar and restaurant.

“We will see, perhaps there will be a slight change to the food menu,” he said.

Why was the owner arrested?

At 1 a.m. Jan. 1, Jeske was arrested after police say he became hostile during a traffic stop. According to the criminal complaint, Jeske refused a blood draw and a preliminary breath test put his BAC at 0.138%. He was charged with five felonies, including operating while intoxicated, fifth offense; OWI causing injury; battery or threat to a law enforcement officer; attempted battery or threat to a law enforcement officer; hit and run involving injury; and one misdemeanor, resisting or obstructing an officer. He is currently being held in the Brown County Jail with bail set at $100,000.

The complaint says Jeske was going 85 mph in a 70 mph zone, northbound on Interstate 43 near the flyover interchange to Interstate 41 southbound, when he sideswiped a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper.

The trooper pulled Jeske over and asked him to sit inside the squad car while they spoke, due to the cold weather, but Jeske refused and tried to return to his vehicle, the complaint said. He argued with other law enforcement officers about having his fiancée pick him up and retrieving items from his car. According to the complaint, he was informed that he was going to be arrested and three other agents had to take him to the ground and use a taser. The complaint also said Jeske threatened to kill the agents and punched one of them.

The complaint said the trooper Jeske punched, sustained a back strain from being sideswiped and a “head injury” from the hit. The trooper didn’t have to take time off work but was advised by a doctor to watch for mild concussion signs.
