Police Chief Aaron Goldstein said in a news release issued at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, that officers and detectives conducted an extensive door-to-door canvas in surrounding neighborhoods after an initial residential entry was reported at around 2:05 a.m. in the 1600 block of Primrose Lane on the city’s east side.

In the initial report, an unknown man entered through an unlocked patio door, was confronted by residents and fled before officers arrived. The suspect was not located, prompting the canvas and further investigation Feb. 17.

Goldstein said that during the canvas, investigators delivered hundreds of community notices and spoke directly with residents to answer questions and gather information. That effort led to the identification of the additional incidents, which had not previously been reported.

Investigators credited residents who came forward with information, noting that community cooperation has been key in advancing the investigation.

Authorities are asking residents who may not have been contacted to review home security systems, including doorbell and surveillance cameras. Police are particularly interested in footage showing suspicious overnight activity, such as individuals walking through yards, checking door handles or approaching garages.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Fond du Lac Police Department at 920-906-5555 or Detective Matt Chevremont at 920-322-3744 or mchevremont@fdl.wi.gov. Police said if you observe suspicious activity in progress, call 911 immediately. Anonymous tips can be submitted through the Crime Alert line at 920-322-3740.
