Downtown Green Bay bridge closure delayed by 'unforeseen circumstances'

A closure of the Main Street bridge scheduled for June 1 has been postponed “due to unforeseen circumstances,” according to a news release from the Department of Public Works.

The bridge will be closed June 4-25, the department said in its release, updating a previously announced 19-day closure that’d been set to start June 1.

Trista Hobbs, a facilities manager, did not immediately respond to a question from the Green Bay Press-Gazette to clarify the unforeseen circumstances.

Lunda Construction will repair the bridge’s counterweights as part of a $1.4 million contract to fix its aging infrastructure.
