Choose the Cellcom Press-Gazette high school girls athlete of the year

GREEN BAY – The 2024-25 high school sports year is complete, which means it’s time to vote for some of the top players and teams from the area this past year before the 2025-26 season arrives.

This week is the girls athlete of the year.

You can vote for the Cellcom Press-Gazette high school girls athlete of the year until 3 p.m. July 12. You don’t have to be a subscriber to vote.

Here are the nominees. Be sure to vote in the poll below.

Faye Brunke, Bay Area Ice Bears

The forward scored 31 goals, had 25 assists and led the Ice Bears to the WIAA girls state hockey title after scoring a title game-record four goals against defending champion D.C. Everest.

Emma Cunningham, Green Bay Southwest

The golfer, who competes for Green Bay Preble, finished tied for 11th at the Division 1 state meet. She was the Fox River Classic Conference player of the year for the second straight season and a second-team all-state pick.

Thea Kral, Ashwaubenon

The University of Wisconsin commit won the D1 state track and field titles in the shot put and discus for the second straight year and finished her prep career with five state championships.

Chloe Parker, Bay Port

The outside hitter-middle blocker was the FRCC volleyball co-player of the year. The Bradley commit helped the Pirates make the state tournament for the first time in program history. She entered state with a team-high 318 kills and 50 block assists.

Faith Walder, West De Pere

The Northern Michigan commit led the basketball team to the state tournament for the first time since 1978 after averaging 19.8 points and shooting 57% overall. The first-team all-state selection graduated as the Phantoms’ all-time leading scorer with 1,569 points.

She also was a force in soccer and was the Bay Conference offensive player of the year while finishing as the program’s all-time leading goal scorer.

Taylor Whiting, Lena

Won her third WIAA state wrestling championship after pinning Neenah’s Kylee Kurszewski in 1 minute, 13 seconds in the 114-pound title match.

She has a career record of 56-1 entering her senior year.
