Celebrate Waupun brings rides, music and fireworks to Tanner Park

WAUPUN – June is almost over, but that means Celebrate Waupun is back in town.

The festival opens June 26 at Tanner Park and runs all weekend with carnival rides, food, music, and daily activities, including a special fireworks show to close out the event.

Here’s what to know this year.

Carnival Megabands are still available

The A&P Carnival rides open at 4 p.m. June 26, then at noon June 27 and 28.

Megabands grant access to the rides all weekend, available for $50 per person at Waupun Piggly Wiggly/Cattails Liquor Co., 100 Gateway Drive, or online at hometowntickets.com until noon June 25. Megabands will be $75 at the gate.

Daily bands will be $30 per person, otherwise individual tickets are $1.50 each or $20 for 16. Each ride takes at least three tickets.

Other weekend-long activities include Pier Pups, vendors

In addition to the rides, all three days will feature food, beverages, vendors and games.

Pier Pups canine dock jumping also runs all weekend, starting at 5 p.m. June 26 and 1 p.m. June 27 and 28.

Friday activities include water barrel fights

The weekend’s festivities start with a fish fry at 4 p.m. Friday.

At 6 p.m., Waupun Fire Department and surrounding departments will start the Firefighter Water Barrel Fights.

Saturday features cornhole tournament and sculpture tours

The first Saturday-only event is a cornhole tournament at noon inside the Waupun Ice Arena, 510 E. Spring St., benefiting the Waupun Hockey Association.

City of Waupun Sculpture Tours will take place all afternoon, starting at 1, 3 and 5 p.m.

Sunday includes car show and extra activities for the kids

Before the event opens for its final day, the Homan Auto Sales Car Show will start at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of Rock River Intermediate School, 451 E. Spring St., and continue until 2 p.m.

Special additions to Sunday include inflatables for the kids and the Kiddie Pedal Pull, both starting at 1 p.m.

The Horicon Bank Main Stage will open early for two non-music festivities: community worship service starts at 11:30 a.m., and Bingo runs from 1 to 2 p.m.

Horicon Bank Main Stage hosts live music, finale fireworks show

Live music on the Horicon Bank Main Stage starts with Red Fish Remix at 4:30 p.m. June 26, followed by Boogie and the Yo-Yoz at 8 p.m.

Kirstie Kraus Duo kicks off the June 27 lineup at 2 p.m., with Misbehavin starting at 5 p.m. and Madison County finishing the night at 8 p.m.

Bob Viking Family Fun show takes the stage at 2 p.m. June 28, and music fills the rest of the day with Piano Man Band at 4:30 p.m. and American Honey at 6:30 p.m.

The festival will end with a bigger-than-ever fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. in honor of America’s 250th birthday.
