The Green Bay Packers announced four injury-motivated roster moves on Friday, the third day of training camp. The team signed long snapper Cal Adomitis and wide receiver Kaden Prather, released kicker Lenny Krieg and waived injured receiver Brenden Rice. Adomitis and Prather were both available during the Packers’ training camp practice on Friday.

Sign long snapper Cal Adomitis: With Matt Orzech still on the PUP list nursing a calf injury, the Packers were forced to make an addition at long snapper to ensure the kicking operation gets opportunities to actually practice kicks at training camp. Enter Adomitis, a veteran long snapper with 58 career NFL appearances who can immediately step in and handle the role. Will he stick around and compete with Orzech once the latter is healthy? We’ll see. Adomitis was an All-American at Pitt and the preferred long snapper for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2022 to 2024.
Release kicker Lenny Krieg: This kind of roster churning happens all the time. A team needs a specialist, so another specialist gets released. Krieg was in Green Bay for only a few days and didn’t even get a chance to kick at practice before being released. It’s possible he’ll return once the long snapping situation is resolved. The Packers like that Krieg has International Pathway Player eligibility.
Waive injured wide receiver Brenden Rice: The son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice was claimed off waivers by the Packers in May. But an injury doomed his chances in Green Bay. The Packers placed him on the non-football injury list with a hamstring injury on Thursday and then waived him injured on Friday. Sticking around as a fringe 90-man roster player is tough when not available.
Sign wide receiver Kaden Prather: The Packers had only 10 receivers on the roster, so Rice’s injury created a need for an addition. Prather, a 2025 seventh-round pick of the Buffalo Bills, arrives after a successful season in the UFL. He’s big (6-3, 204) and fast (4.46 40-yard dash), and he had a bunch of production (162 catches, 1,966 yards) over 48 career collegiate games. Maybe he’ll surprise given a second chance at an NFL camp.
