OSHKOSH – The body of a deceased male has been recovered from Lake Winnebago.
The body was recovered Saturday, Oct. 25, and has been identified, but the name is being withheld pending notification of family, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Deputies responded to the Mill Street Boat Launch at around 11:32 a.m. Oct. 25 for the report of suspicious items and possible clothing floating approximately 50 feet from shore, southeast of the mouth of the Fox River. They launched a Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office boat onto the lake to inspect the items, which is when they discovered it was the body of a deceased adult male.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of those affected, and this will remain an active investigation,” the sheriff’s office said in the Oct. 25 news release.
No further information was immediately released.
