An Ascension Health affiliate has sold a large Milwaukee senior living community to a Chicago-area firm.
The 27-acre Alexian Village, 9301 N. 76th St., was purchased by AOM Realty LLC for $22.25 million, according to a deed posted online by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue on Aug. 18.
AOM Realty is an affiliate of Skokie, Illinois-based AA Healthcare Inc. The firm operates 13 nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Illinois and Wisconsin, according to its LinkedIn page.
That includes five operations in the Milwaukee area: Aria care centers in Brookfield, Waukesha and West Allis, and Crossroads care centers in Milwaukee and Pewaukee.
AA Healthcare President Aaron Topper couldn’t be immediately reached for more information about the firm’s plans for Alexian Village.
It’s been renamed Avina of Milwaukee, according to the property’s Facebook page.
Avina/Alexian Village has around 300 housing units for independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing care.
The property sale led to an early termination of a kitchen services contract TouchPoint Services, also known as Compass Group, had at Alexian Village. That led to layoffs of 52 workers in August, according to a notice filed with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
Ascension representatives didn’t immediately respond to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s questions about why the health care system sold Alexian Village.
St. Louis-based Ascension Health in 2012 acquired Alexian Village through its acquisition of Alexian Brothers Health System, which was based in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
