49-year-old Peshtigo woman killed in one-vehicle crash on May 26 in Marinette County

A 49-year-old woman was killed on Memorial Day in a one-vehicle-crash, the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the sheriff’s office: At 9:24 a.m. May 26, Jessica A. Garbaciak of Peshtigo was eastbound on Marinette County X in the town of Wagner lost control of the vehicle on a curve and crashed into a ditch on the opposite side of the highway.

Garbaciak, who was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash, was ejected from the vehicle and later pronounced dead, the sheriff’s office said.

It was the second deadly car crash that took place on Memorial Day weekend in Marinette County. On May 23, three people were killed in a two-vehicle crash in the town of Stephenson.

The crash remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office.
