Ziggi’s Coffee locations in Amarillo close their doors

The two Ziggi’s Coffee locations in Amarillo permanently closed their doors this week.

“To Our Amarillo Community, We want to share that this Ziggi’s Coffee location will be closing its doors starting Wednesday, March 25th,” a post by the local franchise team says on Facebook. “We understand this news may come as a surprise, and we know how much this location has meant to many of you.

“This was a difficult decision made by the local ownership team, in part due to health circumstances. We’re incredibly grateful for the support, friendships, and memories built here. It has truly been a privilege to serve this community. Thank you for being a part of our journey.”

Local Ziggi’s Coffee owners and operators Floyd and Becky Lane first began their journey with the coffee shop franchise with the 1,760-square-foot café and drive-thru on Hillside Road in Town Square Village June 11, 2024. They opened their second location of the Colorado-based brand off FM 2590 last year. A third location had been in the permitting phase in Canyon.

A sign seen on the doors of the Hillside location Wednesday says “March 24, 2026 Permanently Closing”.

The news of Ziggi’s popular shop closing in Amarillo brought several comments on Facebook, including, “literally the only coffee shop with gluten free breakfast sandwiches,” and “my pup is going to miss her pup cups.”According to their story on website, the Lanes have lived in Amarillo 28 years and have deep roots in the community. At one time, the couple was planning to open nine other locations.

Community involvement was at the heart of their mission, being active at St. Thomas Parish, Holy Cross School Board, PTA and contributing to organizations such as Meals on Wheels and the Food Pantry. Their mission was to brighten someone’s day with every interaction, and the coffee shops featured dirty sodas, energy infusions, matcha, smoothies and creative blends of coffee.

The franchise fee for opening a Ziggi’s is listed at $150,000 minimum in a Ziggi’s franchise website.

Ziggi’s Coffee said in a news release that locations are locally owned and operated by a network of franchisees, and the decision to close the locations at 9402 Hillside Rd., Suite 206, and 15251 FM 2590 was made by the local ownership team.

“We are incredibly grateful for the Amarillo community and the relationships built over time,” said local ownership. “After careful consideration, this decision was made in part due to personal health circumstances.”

The company said it is actively exploring opportunities for new ownership in the Amarillo market, but no additional details are available at this time.

“Ziggi’s Coffee remains committed to supporting its franchise system and the communities it serves, with continued growth across markets nationwide,” the company said.
