On Thursday M.H. Griffin pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of manslaughter, and 78th District Court Judge Meredith Kennedy sentenced him to 20 years in prison, according to court documents. He was credited with 685 days in the Wichita County Jail.

A conviction of capital murder would be expected to result in a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
