Among Texas A&M’s 26 commitments in the Aggies’ No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, five-star Edge Zyron Forstall’s proverbial “drumbeat” has only grown louder as evaluators assess every future signee on track to make an immediate impact in 2027. After former Bowling Green Edge Cashius Howell led the SEC with 11.5 sacks last season, it’s clear that third-year coach Mike Elko is also one of the top developers in the SEC.
Aided by defensive line coaches Elijah Robinson and Tony Jerod-Eddie, who are nationally considered two of the top recruiters and developers, Forstall will be on the fast track towards becoming a rotational player due to his versatility as a defensive end or outside linebacker, with NFL-level speed, size, and first-step quickness to make any quarterback uncomfortable in the pocket.
This week, Reel Analytics released its “In-Game Athleticism” tape of Zyron Forstall during the incoming senior’s junior campaign with the prestigious IMG Academy, detailing the five-star pass rusher’s elite closing time with 8.5 yards of separation before the snap. In just two seconds, Forstall made his way to the backfield, immediately pressuring the QB to drift right and take the sack.
Forstall could easily thrive in the Jack position, currently occupied by rising sophomore Marco Jones, who is similarly sized, while a role similar to senior linebacker Daymion Sanford in third-down packages is the most realistic pathway to earning extended snaps during the 2027 season.
