Texas A&M’s 2026 season is just a month away, as the Aggies will open the new campaign against Missouri State on Saturday, Sept. 5, which also means the 2028 recruiting class will begin to take shape, including a long list of priority prospects visiting the Aggies during one of seven games in Kyle Field.
Under coach Mike Elko, who is entering his third season at the helm, the Aggies are close to locking up the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, even after missing out on landing five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis, who committed to Texas on Saturday night. So far, A&M’s lone 2028 commit is four-star Edge Chance Archangel, while the Aggies are heavily predicted to land blue-chip five-star quarterback Donald Tabron III.
Other names to watch include four-star running back and Aggie legacy Ian Thomas, while fellow A&M legacy and four-star wide receiver Dillon Mitchell has also been predicted to land with the Aggies. This weekend, Rivals insider Adam Gorney revealed that Texas A&M and third-year coach Mike Elko are making strides with four-star California-based athlete Zion Anderson.
“His cousin is Miami commit Donte Wright. His super close friend is UCLA pledge Juju Johnson. So that could play an influence for the Long Beach Poly standout but Texas A&M is coming on strong with Cal, USC, Alabama, Nebraska and others.”
Zion Anderson is one of the top-ranked athletes in the 2028 cycle, playing wide receiver and cornerback during his 2025 junior season, reeling in 19 receptions, 381 yards, and 4 touchdowns, combined with 16 tackles, an interception, and 5 pass breakups. At 6’0″ and 160 pounds, Anderson looks like a corner at the next level, but could easily play either position given his speed and versatility, while also thriving as a punt returner.
According to Rivals, Zion Anderson is currently positioned as the 192nd-ranked prospect, 7th-ranked athlete, and 10th-ranked prospect in California.
