The countdown to the season opener gets real tomorrow when fall practice starts. The Longhorns will begin fall camp on Wednesday at Denius Fields on the UT campus. It will be the first (and possibly only) fall camp with Arch Manning at starting quarterback.
Texas has a large core of veterans, early enrollees and new incoming freshman to work into the mix as Texas coach Steve Sarkisian sets his depth chart for the season opener at Ohio State and beyond.
While there are a handful of practice windows open to the media, most of the Longhorns practices will be completely closed to the public.
The first week the team will work out without pads as Sark and the coaching staff install the primary schemes for the coming campaign. Then the Horns will strap on pads next week.
Texas will hold two intrasquad scrimmages on Saturday, Aug. 16 and Saturday, Aug. 23. Both scrimmages are also closed to the public.
It all builds up to Texas’ season opener in the Horseshoe at the Ohio State Buckeyes on Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. CT.
