The 2026 high school sports season is around the corner in West Texas, with most fall sports slated to start practicing on Monday, Aug. 3.
One of those sports is cross country. West Texas has a long history of success in cross country, and last year was no exception. The Big Spring boys team saw the biggest success among local teams with a silver-medal finish at the Class 4A state meet at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
With practices on the horizon, we want to hear from local fans and community members on who they think is the San Angelo Standard-Times Preseason Girls Cross Country Athlete of the Year.
The poll will be open from Monday, Aug. 3, to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, and the winner will be announced shortly after.
