The Texas Tech Red Raiders were a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament last season and made it to the round of 32, where they ultimately fell short against the Louisville Cardinals. They have made some intriguing additions this summer to prepare for the 2026-27 season.
They have added Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn, Cruz Davis, Damarion Dennis, Jamichael Stillwell and Darrion Williams from the transfer portal and two incoming freshmen in DaKari Spear and Trey Hall. But they aren’t done adding to the roster.
On Friday, the Red Raiders officially signed guard Amari Barrett. On social media, the team posted a hype video to welcome Barrett to the team.
As a senior at Milwood High School in Oklahoma City, Barrett averaged 17 points per game. He had originally committed to the Ball State Cardinals before ultimately choosing to join the Red Raiders.
He will have five seasons of eligibility at Texas Tech after helping lead Milwood High to back-to-back championships. With Mokan Elite of the EYBL, the incoming freshman averaged 9.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
