Texas QB Arch Manning gets very little help as Longhorns fall to Georgia Bulldogs

Arch Manning and the Longhorns took their third loss of the season, falling to the Georgia Bulldogs, 35-10. Manning had an up-and-down night, finishing 27/43 for 251 yards, 1 TD and an INT.

Manning did nicely to get Texas back with 4 points heading into the fourth quarter, but defensive fatigue and special teams miscues led to Georgia possessing the ball for the vast majority of the last frame.

Manning’s performance was far from his best, but a number of drops and penalties made it look much worse. Manning was sacked three times on the day and hit a several more times throughout the game.

The run game mustered 23 yards on 17 carries, which helped short-circuit the offense game. And the season-long Texas trend of critical penalties in key moments reared its ugly head again.

Manning’s game began really strong, marching the team down the field and starting 4/4 before a drop from Ryan Wingo on 3rd down. After the first drive FG, the Texas offense really struggled, mainly around Manning. Multiple drops from Wingo, Moore and Washington, penalties and pressures on the offensive line and everything else the Longhorns have struggled with in 2025.

Manning finished the first half 12/19, 125 yards, 0 TDs and an INT right before the half. He made a number of nice plays early, including a 40-yard pass to Emmett Mosley backed up in his own endzone, but consistency, once again did the Longhorns in. Manning played far from his best half, but the majority of mistakes offensively in the first happened around him.

Coming out of the half, the Texas defense got Manning and the offense a stop and the ball down 14-3. Manning threw two beautiful passes to Wingo and Moore for back-to-back 1st downs, getting the Texas offense in Georgia territory. A penalty on the OL put the Longhorn in a 3rd and long, forcing another punt on a promising drive.

Anthony Hill Jr. got an INT and gave the offense the ball in plus territory with a chance to cut it to one score. A great throw and catch to Ryan Wingo on 3rd down got the drive going and a pass interference penalty for Georgia put the Longhorns inside the 10-yard line. Manning was able to connect with Ryan Wingo for a TD, cutting the lead to 14-10 in favor of the Bulldogs.

After a TD drive from Georgia, a surprise onside kick kept Arch on the sideline. Georgia was able to put another score on the board, pushing the lead to 28-10 before Manning got back on the field. A sack and a couple of misses from Manning led to a punt for the Longhorns and ended Texas’ shot at getting the win.

Manning got the ball back down 25 after yet another Bulldog TD, and Manning was able to make a few nice throws to move Texas into Georgia territory. After a nice throw to DeAndre Moore to move into the redzone, the offense stalled at the Georgia 11-yard line, bringing Manning’s night to an end.

Once again, it wasn’t Manning’s best performance but the supporting cast did little to help him. Manning and the Longhorns move forward to a game against Arkansas back in Austin. Manning and the offense will look to get back on track and the Longhorns hope to find a way to get back into the CFP conversation, however unlikely.
