Texas Football flips UCLA commit Toray Davis

Over the last few weeks, the Texas Longhorns have excelled at flipping recruits. That continued on Tuesday when they were able to secure a commitment from four-star defensive back Toray Davis. The four-star recruit had been committed to UCLA but will now take his talent to the Forty Acres. He has sent in his letter of intent (LOI).

During the recruiting process, Davis also drew interest from Washington, Utah, Wisconsin, and Kansas State. While that is not an easy group to go to battle with, Texas emerged with a key win. The heavy interest comes as no surprise, given the numbers the Colorado native has recorded in high school.

As a junior, Davis was a human highlight reel. In 13 games, he recorded 49 tackles and four interceptions. The Fairview High star also added three forced fumbles to his resume. However, that wasn’t the only way he made an impact. Davis also got some time on offense, racking up 428 yards on 51 carries. He also hauled in 37 catches for 769 yards.

Currently, Davis is ranked as the 26th-best athlete in his class by 247Sports. They also rank him as the fifth-best player from Colorado. That is partly why Texas and other programs nationwide made Davis a priority. Now the Longhorns will get to use Davis as a Swiss army knife as they chase a national title.

When Davis arrives on campus, he will be part of one of the best 2026 classes in the nation. He will be joined by five-star recruits Dia Bell and Jermaine Bishop. They will also get some help from four-star recruits Kosi Okpala, Samari Matthews, Jamarion Carlton, James Johnson, and John Tunrtine III. They are part of a group that will face high expectations.

While the start of his college career is still months away, Davis has the potential to be a special player for the Longhorns.
